MAIL NOTICES.

Mails close at the Chief Post Office for the following places (subject to the necessary alterations) as under: — SATURDAY, MAT 15. For Northern Ports, per Hawea, at 7 p.m. The guard’s van must not be used for this mail. TUESDAY, MAY 18. For Otago and Australian Colonies, per Te Anan, at 3.15 p.m.; late fee letters, 3.25 p.m.; guard’s van, 3.55 p.m. train. For Northern Porta and Westport, per Grafton, at 3.15 p.m.; late fee letters, 3.25 p.m. ; guard’s van, 3.55 p.m. train. THURSDAY, MAY 20. For Northern Ports of New Zealand and Australian Colonies, via Sydney, per Tararau. The next mad for the United Kingdom, via San Francisco, will be closed at Christchurch on Saturday, May 22nd, as follows Ordinary letters, at 6,30 p.m.; late fee letters, at 7 p.m. books and newspapers, at G p.m,; money orders, at 4 p.m.; registered letters, at 5 p.m.; guard’s van, 8.15 p.m, train. This mail will bo due in London on July 6th. The next mail for the United Kingdom, via Brindisi (fer correspondence specially addressed only), will be closed at Christchurch on June 3rd, and will bo due in London on July 24th. Notice.—The Post Office at the Weka Pass Railway Works has been re-opened at Mr Woodhouse’s store. The Post Offices at Christchurch and Lyttelton will bo open every Saturday night, from half-past six until a quarter to eight o’clock, for the purpose of receiving Savings’ Bank deposits only.
