ASHBURTON LIBRARY.
The members of the above institution held their annual meeting last Thursday evening, the president. Dr. Trevor, in the chair. There was a large attendance. Mr Ward, who acts as librarian, secretary and treasurer, read the annual report, which was unanimously adopted. Ha also stated that there was a sum of £lO to the credit of the library, while its liabilities were £l4. Some discussion took place, in which the inefficient manner in which the library was managed was pointed out, after which the following officers were appointed for the ensuing year:—President, Mr J. Ward ; treasurer, Mr A. Roberts ; secretary, Mr H. O. Jacobson ; librarian, Mr C. Young ; committee, Rev. Mr Douglas, Messrs A. Hands, W. H. Gundry, P. Quiness and A. Shnry ; Messrs W. H. Zouch and R. Boyle were elected auditors. Dr. Roes gave notice that he would move at next quarterly meeting—“ That the committee bo composed of ten members instead of five as at present.” After the usual compliments were passed to the chairman and the retiring officers tha meeting adjourned.
