THEATRE RORAL.
The “ Ticket-of-Leave Man" was performed last night at the Theatre Royal, and went exceedingly well. The piece having been recently noticed, it will be sufficient to say that the principal characters were done ample justice to by Messrs Hoskins, Boothman, and the Misses Morgan, Lizzie Lawrence, and Ashton. This evening the great temperance drama of “ The Bottle,” founded on George Cruicfcshank’fl celebrated pictures, will be produced with a powerful cast and new scenery. On Monday evening Mr 0. E. Searle will commence a short farewell engagement of six nights, previous to his departure for Melbourne. Mr Searle, who had temporarily retired from the stage, will be remembered as an actor of considerable merit in connection with various companies who have appeared in Christchurch, and his valedictory performance, terminating with a benefit, will no doubt attract good houses.
