The month has been fine and seasonable, the first seven days being exceptionally fine ; heavy dews and frosts have occurred on a few evenings. From the Bth to the 13th light showers; on the 10th a hailstorm with vivid flashes of lightning, at Ashburton killing several horses; on the night of the 27th a hard frost, the thermometer on grass registering 21.5 Fah. j the latter half of the mouth fine. Prevailing winds, N.E., E., and S.W. Tho barometric readings have been high the greater part of tho month; the rainfall has been less than tho average of the same month ’ for the past five years ; the moisture of the atmosphere has been nearly tho average of the same period.
