KAIAPOI BOARD OF HEALTH.

The members of the Town Council met as a Board of Health on Tnursday evening. The mayor, Mr Blackwell, presided. Dr Ovendon, health officer for the borough, reported on two cases of diphtheria in a family residing in Akaroa street. One of the children had died from croup supervening, but the other was recovering. He pointed out a nuisance arising from stagnant water in the Beach road drain and side channels of Feraki street, as well as from sheep skins being exposed to dry at one place within the district. The question of removing the nuisance of the Beach road and Peraki street drains was referred to the works committee of the Borough Council, notios also to be given for the removal of sheepskins. On motion of Mr Fraser, seconded by Mr Moore, it was decided that the night soil from the school premises be buried on Reserve 120 on North road, under direction of the foreman of the Council. The Board then adjourned.
