MAGISTRATES' COURTS.
OH E I SICHUECE THTTBSDA.Y, ArBXL 20lH. [Before G. L. Mellish, Esq., K.M.I A Complicated Chaegb.—Henry Harness was charged with indecently exposing himself in a public place, assaulting Frederick Collins, and of wilfully destroying Government property to the value of 20s. Mr Neck appeared for the accused. The first offence was proved by the evidence of the prosecutor, at the rear of whose premises the defendant was guilty of creating a nuisance. His testimony was corroborated by a witness named Patrick. The assault on Mr Collins arose out of his interference, both charges being supported by his evidence and that of Mrs Collins and the witness Patrick. Mr Neck, on behalf of the accused, admitted committing the assault, under what he considered extenuating circumstances. The first charge, which was not of a very aggravated nature, was dismissed ; for the second a line of 60s was inflicted, with costs of witnesses, 10s ; for the third, destroying a vessel in the lockup, the defendant was ordered to pay its value, 20*.
