CHALLENGE BELT.

One of the meat handsome trophies ever offered for rifle competition in Christchurch is the Challenge Belt, recently made by Messrs Coates and Co., to the order of the City Guards. This bolt, which has been for some time in the window of the manufacturers, is made of silver, the numerous plates of which it is composed being strung on a patent leather band. _ The centre piece is a shield, upon which it ia intended to engrave the presentation inscription when the belt is finally won. Every alternate section is a plain piece of silver, with raised edges, and on these plates the names of the winners are to be inscribed, the man who gains the largest number of points in this way being entitled to claim the belt as his own. The belt is really a magnificent prize, and should excite earnest competition.
