Mails close at the ( hief Post Office for the following places (subject to the necessary alterations) as under: — F RID AT, APRIL 23. For Northern per Go-ahead, at 1.50 p.m.; late fee letters, 2.10 p.m.; guard’s van, 5.25 p.m. train. SATURDAY, APRIL 24. For the United Kingdom, Continents of Europe and America, West Indies, China, Japan, <tc. (via San Francisco), Sandwich Islands, Northern Ports of New Zealand, per Hawea, as follows : Ordinary letters, at 6.30 p.m. Late fee letters, at 7 p.m. Books and newspapers, at 5.30 p.m. Registered l»t:ers, at 4.30 p.m. Money orders, at 4 p.m. Guard’s van, 8.15 p.m. train. This mail will be due in London on June Bth. TUESDAY, A.PRIL 27. For Otago and Australian Colonies, per Penguin (to connect with s.s. Tararua at Pet Chalmers) at 1.50 p.m. ; late fee letters, 2 10 p.m. ; guard’s van, 2 45 p.m. train. The next mail for the United Kingdom, via Brindisi (for specially addressed correspondence only), will be closed at Christchurch on May 6th, and will he due in London on June 26th. SYDNEY J.
