CANTERBURY LIBERAL REFORM ASSOCIATION.

The quarterly general meeting was held last evening at the Oddfellows' Hall, Lichfield street. The attendance of members ■was very fair. Dr. Turnbull (president) occupied "the chair. After the minutes of the previous meeting had been read and confirmed, the chairman called on the secretary to read the quarterly report of tho committee which, on being done, was put to the meeting and adopted. Mr Wadey then moved — " That the thanks of the Association be given to Mr H. E. Alport for his valuable services as hon. treasurer, and for the cordial support he has alwayß given to the Liberal cause." This was seconded by Mr B. Cass, and carried unanimously. The chairman and members of committee then answered several questions re the registration of electors, and stated that the Association had taken steps to register as many persons as possible. Forms could be obtained and filled up at tho offices of tho Association, and a tracing of the boundaries of tha Christchurch Electoral district from the official map seen. Mr M'Haffie then proposed —" That the committee of the Association bo instructed to draw up a petition to tho Go vernment asking them to bring in a Redistribution of Scats Bill upon the basis of population, during the next session, and that it take tfiVct as early ts possible after the rising of Parliament." Mr Wadey seconded, and it was carried unanimously. Discussions of a conversational character ensued, and a vote of thanks to the chairman concluded the business of the meeting.
