CHBISTOHUECEL Thuesday, Aeeil 15. [Before Q-. L. Melliah, Esq , R.M ] Beeach op Health Act. —The adjourned ease under the provisions of the Board of Health, against David Thornton, for neglecting to report a case of typhoid fever which had occurred in his house, was again called on. Mr Garrick appeared to support the information. In addition to the evidence given on the previous day, Dr. Davis, house surgeon at the Hospital, now stated that Miss Thornton, the patient, was admitted on March 19'h, suffering from ordinary fever symptoms. It was not until she had been in the hospital that typhoid symptoms manifested themselves. It was a moot point amongst the highest medical authorities when typhoid fever was infectious. The highest opinion was in favor of the non-contagion theory. It was impossible that the father of the child could have been aware that the disease she was suffering from was typhoid fever, and one that should have been reported to the Board. After this evidence Mr Garrick withdrew the charge. Delink: and Disoedeely.—A first offender
