ALTERATIONS IN RAILWAY TIME TABLE.
An advertisement announces a number of important alterations in the railway time table, to come into force on Thursday, the 15th instant. The express leaves Christchurch at 8 20 a m. instead of 8.40, and picks up passengers between Rolleeton and Ashburton. After leaving Ashburton this train only stops at Orari and Temuka, arriving at Timaru at 12 56. The 7.20 a.m. South train is abandoned, and in its place a new train leaves Christchurch at 7.40, taking on Southbridge Branch passengers to Hornby, and running on to Springfield via Rolleiton. A new train leaves Christchurch at 2.10 n m., reaching Timaru at 8.10 p.m. A train leaves Timaru 6 45 a.m., and Ashburton at 9.30 a m., arriving at Christchurch at 12 25 p.m The express leaves Timaru at 3.15, arriving at Christchurch at 8 pm. This train puts down passengers at all stations between Ashburton and Christchurch. By the new se vice two through trains run each way between Timaru and Christchurch daily. Persons can come from Timaru to Christchurch, transact badness, and return to Timaru the same night. A like advantage is afforded passengers to Timaru. home minor alterations have also been made in the times, on the North Line and branches.
