BOARD OF CONSERVATORS.
The Board of Conservators for the Waimabariri held a meeting this morning in the offices of Messrs Harman and Stevens. Present—Mr Harman (chairman), the Mayor of Christchurch, Mr Tosswil!, and Mr Duncan. The minutes of the previous meeting having been read and confirmed, The Chairman reported that the accounts were in the hands of Mr Ollivier ; also, that the Chief Surveyor' expected the Crown grants of the Waimabariri reserve would be ready at the end of May. The Board decided to invite tenders for -£3oott worth of debentures at 9 per cent, with a two years’ currency, or at 8 per cent, with five years* currency, in order to take up the overdue debentures of the Canterbury Coliege ; advertisements to be continued for a fortnight; the Mayor of Christchurch and the chairman to be sub-committee to decide on any tender. Failing the offer of a sufficient amount in accordance with the above terms, money to be taken on deposit of S per cent per annum for terms of six months and upwards. The Chairman was requested to expedite the prepaiatu n of the rolls as socn as possible, and to call a special meeting as soon as they are in.
Tho Board resolved to inspect the worts daring: the fort booming week. Authority was griven to purchase some cask of cement required for the progress of the work on the river banks.
Several accounts were then passed, and the Board adjourned.
