[belter's telegrams.] LONDON, April 5. The General Elections. The election for Middlesex took place to-day, and resulted in the return of the two former Members, Lord Geo. Hamilton and Mr O. G. Coope. Mr Herbert Gladstone, a son of the ox-Promier, who contested the election, was defeated. In the elections now proceeding the net Liberal gain is 62. Dublin returns one Homo Ruler and one Liberal. The Hon. E. Lowe has been re-elected for London University. The “ Times ”in a loading article has reason to believe that the Ministry will resign before Parliament meets. Afghan Affairs. It is announced that Sadi All has been appointed sovereign ruler at Candahar, under British protection. Mr Gladstone. The Hon. W. Gladstone has been elected for Midlothian by a largo majority.
