SALE OF THOROUGHBRED STOCK.
The sale of Mr S. Gardiner's thoroughbred horses from the Bundoora Park stud, took placejon Wednesday, at Tattersall's. Mr J. T. Matson officiated aa auctioneer, but, as will be seen by the result, his eloquence was unable to place more than two of the animals brought forward. There was a considerable number of visitors present, but biddings were far from brisk. The following were the prices realised for those sold and the prices at which the others were passed in : Lot 1 -Chesnut colt, foaled 18th September, 1878, got by The Peer ; his dam Argosy, by Freetrader from Belhari, by Indian Warrior from Blink Bonny, by Egremont (son of Moss Rose) out of Mrs Burt, by Snoozer, &e. Engaged in the V.R.O. Mares' and Sires' P Stakes, and Geelong Mares' and Sires' P. Stakes. Belhari, the granddam of this colt, was the mother of Camballo, who has won a number of good races in New South Wales and New Zealand. 100 guineas —Mr R. Yullance. Lot 2—Bay colt, foaled 1878, got by Stockham ; his dam Btitch-in-Time (imported), by The Cure from Jennala, by Touchstone from Emma, by Whisker, &o. Full brother to Needle and Pret d'Acoompler. Passed in at £7O. Lot 3 —Brown Colt, foaled 18th November, 1878, got by Tubal Cain; his dam Ace of Hearts, by Ace of Clubs from Eloise, by The Hermit from Sweetheart (imported), by Red Hart out of Melesina, by Harkaway, &c. Engaged in the V.RC. Mares' P. Stakes and Geelong Sires' and Mares' P. Stakes. 200 guineas —Mr G. W. Lee. Lot 4—Brown Colt, foaled 10th November, 1878, got by Tubal Cain ; his dam Pauline, by Panic out of Kathleen, by Warhawk from Granawheile (imported) by Stockwell, &o. Engagtd in the Y. 8.0. Sires'and Mares' P. Stakes, and Geelong Sires' and Mares' P. Stakes. Passed in at 240 guineas. Lot s—Bi-own Filly, foaled 13th October, 1878, got by The Peer : her dam Crumbs, by Maribyrnong from Sweetbread, by Flying Pieman out of Cassia (imported), by Sweetmeat, &c. Engaged in the Y.R.O. Mares' P. Stakes and Geelong Sires' and Mares' P. Stakes. Passed in at 90 guineas. Lot 6—Bay Filly, foaled 29th October, 1878, got bv Maribyrnong; her dam Lady of Linne, by Lird of Linne from Milliner, by Millionaire from Caress, by Indian Warrior out of Sweetheart (imported). Engaged in the Y.R.O. Mares' P. Stakes, A..J.C. Sirea' P. Stakes, and Geelong Mareß* P. Stakes. Passed in at 240 guineas. Lot 7—Q'-iimbone, thoroughbred Stallion, 5 years, by Maribyrnong from Oremorne, by Yattendon from Camel Bessie, by Beresford's Camel from Hipped Bessie, by St. John from Bessie Bedlam, by Rous' Emigrant from Stella.by Peter Fin out of Spaewife (imported). Quambone is full brother to Napper Tandy, who has performed ao well. Passed in at 280 guineas. ____^__
