The Remonstrant cleared this morning for Loudon, with 15,110 sacks of wheat. _ The Government steamer Stella, Captain Kersie arrived from Wellington on Friday at 7 p.m., bringing 150 volunteers, part of the Wellington Naval Brigade. The passage, which occupied twenty-four hours, was a most wretched one for those on board, the sea breaking over the vessel forward in great quantities. The steamer was kept driving at it steadily, slowing engines but for an hour or so off Cape Campbell. She is expected to leave to-morrow morning on the return trip. _ The Union Company’s s.s. Wanaka, Captain M'Gillivriy, arrived on Saturday at 5 p.m. from Wellington and Northern Ports. She left Auckland last Monday, calling at Tauranga, Gisborne, and Napier, the weather having enfficiently moderated to communicate with the latter port. The passage from Wellington was made in 17’ hoars. The Wanaka left at 8.30 p.m. for Port Chalmers. The vessels at the wharves last evening were: No. 1, Margaret Galbraith, British Empire, Waimate, Westland. No. 2, Hinemoa (s), Stella (si. Lyttelton (s), Akaroa (a.) No. 3, Marie, Thurso, Western Monarch. No. 4, Father, Omaha. Ben Nevis. Salamanca, Falcon. No. 5, Star of India, Remonstrant. No. 6, Magellan, Island Lily. The Melbourne “ Argus,” in its shipping summary, March 18th, reports the sale of the steamer Claud Hamilton daring the month, for the sum of .£7OOO. , The Sea Bird and Dido left Hokianga for here March 22ud. The schooner Falcon wai there windhound, the two first-named having towed out. _ Mr C. W. Turner’s barque Thurso is announced for Capo Town, to sail next Saturday, with passengers and cargo. The ship Pleiades, Captain Set ten, chartered by Messrs Royse. Stead and Co., and Messrs P. Cunningham and Co., took her departure for the United Kingdom on Saturday, towing to sea. Her cargo consisted of 12,243 sacks of wheat, to be conveyed to Cork or Falmouth for orders The Remonstrant finished loading for the United Kingdom on Saturday. She has a full cargo of grain. The Salamanca, berthed on Friday morning, commenced to discharge coal on Saturday, and took in soma grain. It is proposed, in order to *riva her despatch, to place an extra steam donkey on board and discharge her coal from both the main and after hatches. The Margaret Galbraith will ha moved into the berth vacated by the Inglewood at the Gladstone pier, to allow the dredge to be set to work at the extension of the pier, that the two outer berths lately occupied by the Maraval and Euterpe may be deepened. On January 2Sth the Gamma cleared at New York for Dunedin and Lyttelton, with 1200 cases of oil and 200 packages tobacco for the former, and 1500 cases of oil and 75 packages tobacco for this port. The S. R. Lyman cleared at Boston for Dunedin on January 11th, with 5000 cases oil and 396 packages tobacco. The Peerless, from Timarn, arrived at Newcastle March 16th. The Emperor, hence, arrived at Newcastle on the 17th current.
