NATIVE LAND COURT.
KAIAPOI. Satuedat, Maech 27xh. [Befora His Honor Judge Symonda and Hoani Taipua.] The Court sat at 10 a.m. His Honor informed the natives, who were largely represented in the body of the Court, that he would make an award of the reserves, under the Kaiapoi Native Reserves Act, 1877, which he then read, Mr Hammond acting as interpreter. The reserves were apportioned Oxford Reserve No. 1, 314 acres to 19 Natives ; Oxford Reserve No. 2, 15 acres to 1 Native ; Oxford Reserve No. 3,10 S acres to 5 Natives ; Oxford Reserve No. 4, 13 acres 2r, 18p. to I Native ; Oxford Reserve No. 5, 18 acres 2r. 18p. to 1 Native; Oxford Reserve No. 6, 100 acres to 159 Natives j Ashburton Reserve, 253 acres to 15 Natives; Wairewa Reserve, 300 acres to 14 Na'ives ; Rakaia Reserve, 1830 acres to 96 Natives. The acreage of the reserves divided was 2952 acres 36p., among 159 Natives. Each was admitted to a share of the 100 acres of bush at Oxford, giving them about three-quarters of an acre each.
