SCHOOL COMMITTEE ELECTIONS.
KAIAPOI ISLAND SOUTH. At the meeting of householders to elect a school committee, held on Monday evening, there was a fair attendance. Mr D. O’Oallaghan was voted to the chair. The accounts and report of last year were adopted. Messrs O’Oallaghan, King, Yale, Lorrimer, Humphries, Bead and Scott were elected a committee. Mr O’Oallaghan was elected chairman. WAIKUKU. The meeting of householders to elect a school committee was held here on Monday evening. There was a fair attendance. The statement of accounts and report of last year was adopted. The latter noted the fact that great progress had been made in the school, and that nine per cent, of the pupils presented had passed the standards. Messrs Wilson, M'Donald, Ligget, Skevingtou, Morriss, Griffiths and Pope were elected members of committee. At a subsequent meeting of the committee, Mr O. Skevington was elected chairman. ASHLEY BANK. At a meeting of householders for this district, held on Monday evening, Messrs. E. Oroft, Ellwood, Wright, T. Croft, O’Neil, Fraser, and Graham were elected a committee for the ensuing year. Mr F. Croft was unanimously re-elected chairman. The committee then resolved to appoint Mr T. G. Smith as master of the school, subject to the approval of the Board of Education. SPRINGSTON. The annual meeting of the School Committee took place in the schoolroom on Monday evening, for the purpose of electing a new committee. Mr Gammaok read the annual report, which stated that the school was in a fair state of efficiency. The gentlemen were elected as the new committee : Messrs Gammaok, Wills, F. Wright, W. Mathews, H. Pannett, Day, and_ McMeekan. Mr Gammaok was re-elected chairman.
