Mails close at the C hief Post Office for the following places (subject to the necessary alterations) as under TUESDAY, MARCH 23. For Otago and Australian Colonies, per Taravua, at 1.50 p.m.; late fee letters, 2.10 p.m. ; guard’s van, 2.40 p.m. train. For Northern ports, per Waitaki, at 1.50 p.m.; late fee letters, 2.10 p.m.; guard’s van, 2.40 p.m, train. WEDNESDAY, MARCH 24. For Australian Colonies,, per express train at 7.30 am. (to connect with Tararua at Port Chalmers). SATURDAY, MARCH 27. For United Kingdom, Continent of Europe and America, China, Japan, West Indies (via San Francisco), Sandwich Islands, Northern Ports of New Zealand, per Penguin, as follows Ordinary letters, 5.30 p.m. Late fee letters, 6 p.m. Guard’s van, 7.20 p.m. train. Books and newspapers, 4.30 p.m. Registered letters, 4 p.m. Money orders, 4 p.m. This mail will be due in London on May 11th. The next mail for the United Kingdom, via Brindisi, will be closed at Christchurch on April 6th, and will be due in London on May 27th. SYDNEY J. DICK, Chief Postmaster.
