KAIAPOI PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH.
A meeting of adherents was held in this church on Thurday evening. At the opening about sixty were present. The commissioners appointed by the Presbytery—Revs. W. H. Horner, Hill, and Douglas—attended, Mr Horner presiding. It was explained that the mind of those present, as representing the congregation, would bo taken on the question of the requisition presented to the Presbytery, asking for the Rev. W. McGregor’s dismissal. After several statements had been heard and exglanations given, Mr Young moved, Mr Milligan seconded—“ That the Rev. W. McGregor be asked to resign,” to which an amendment was made by Mr Mclntosh, seconded by Mr Elder, to the opposite effect. The votes were declared to bo For the motion, nineteen ; against, seven. The amendment was declared to be negatived, the motion carried. The result will be reported to the next ensuing session of the Presbytery on the second Thursday of May. The proceedings occupied about four hours, and terminated at 11 p.m.
