DIOCESAN SUNDAY SCHOOL ASSOCIATION.

The usual monthly meeting of the Diocesan Sunday School Association took place last night in St. Luke's schoolroom. The special feature of the evening was a very interesting paper on "Some special characteristics ol Hebrew poetry," which was read by the Bev. J. G. Chohnondeley. The subject was treated in a very exhaustive manner, the reader dwelling "minutely on the construction of Hebraic poetry, a distinguishing feature of which was its parallelisms, which he illustrated by copious quotations from the Scriptural writings, especially the Psalms. Reference was also made to the influence of the peculiar construction of Hebrew poetry on that of modern writers, notably the verses of Tennyson and Longfellow. The paper, though of a recondite nature, was highly instructive and interesting, and was listened to with marked attention. The next meeting of the association will take place in St. Michael's schoolroom on Thursday, April 22nd, when the Bbv. E G. Penny will deliver a lecture on the Symbolism of Nature.
