KAIAPOI WOOLLEN FACTORY.

A.t this establishment, preparations for the manufacture of warmer woollen fabrics, notably blankets, indicate the early expectation of winter. The large stock of tweed which has been made since the factory was put into full swing having found a ready clearance, the company is anxiously awaiting the arrival of the new looms to replace the shipment of machinery underwritten in the ship Knowsley Hall. Mr Ramsden, a skilled designer, has recently arrived from Yorkshire, and is about erecting his pattern loom. It is an ill wind that blows no good, and as by the nondelivery of the looms expected in the aforesaid ship the company has been enabled to purchase more recently improved machinery, it is confidently expected that the class of tweeds which ought to bo in course of manufacture within three months will be unrivalled in patterns, make and finish. An immense quantity of yarns, in all shades of color, have recently been turned out, which are of a superior class. This company, it will be seen by our Saturday’s Australian telegrams, obtained first prize at the Sydney Exhibition for its flannels and blankets, as well as a prize for tweeds. Although, for the reasons here given, the tweeds did not come in for the share of attention which those of another factory did, the shareholders may congratulate themselves that they will soon be iu a position to compete in this department on more favorable terms than hitherto.
