RAILWAY EMPLOYES' BENEFIT SOCIETY.

The quartorly general meeting of the above society was held last evening in the accountant's office, Christchurch Bailway Station. Mr Heaton occupied the chair. There was a good attendance. The chairman's report was read and adopted. The Secretary, Mr Schullz, read his report, with statement of finance, which showed arrears of payment £4lO 7s ; balance in hand, including above, £745 Is sd; number of members, 650. Mr Turner moved, Mr Balph seconded—" That the secretary's report as read be passed." Carried., Mr Fanning proposed, and Mr Haig seconded—" That a special general meeting of the Christchurch members be called for Friday, Maroh 19th instant, for the purpose of electing a doctor for the district." After the election of three committeemen and a vote of thanks to the chairman, the meeting terminated.
