[Bx Tblesbaph.] HOKITTKA, March 11. The following cablegrams are taken from late files of the Melbourne " Argus" and "Age," received per Albion. LONDON, March 1. The result of the Victorian general election has been received with interest, and has been commented on by the London prees. The " Pall Mall Gazette " rejoiced in the defeat of the Berry Government, which it attributes to what it characterises as " unbearable misrule," and warns the democratic party of Victoria to choose wiser leaders, in Older to give effect to its principles. March 3. The " Times," referring to the overthow of the Berry Ministry, says it has resulted from a popular revolt against an extravagant and domineering policy. The electors have condemned not only the Beform Bill but the whole proceedings of the Government. The " Times " hopes that the majority will make good use of their opportunity to at once settle the oeform question. Much anxiety was felt in St. Petersburg yesterday, owing to a threatening announcement of the Nihilistß that they would signalise the twenty-fifth anniversary of the accession of the Czar by burning down the capital. The papers generally express special satisfaction at the reception cf Sir Bryan O'Loughlin ; and the " Standard" says that he has been thus punished for his tampering with disloyalty. The " Morning Post" has a leader upon the result of the elections, and expresses much satisfaction at the defeat of the Berry Government. LONDON, March 3. The "Times," in a leading article of this date, referring to the defeat of Mr Berry onjhis appeal to the country, strenuously advises the Victorians to refrain from any extremes, and recommends them to pursue a policy of moderation which will advance the progress of the colony, and deprive Mr Berry of any plausible excuse for appealing to popular passions.
