LONGBEACH ASSESSMENT COURT.
The Assessment Court for the Longbeaoh Bead District sat on Saturday, February 28th, Mr F. Guinness, 8.M., being the judge. The valuer, Mr G. F. P. Leach, of Opawa, appeared in support of the valuation. There were a large number of notices of objections under sections 15, 16, and 17 of the Eating Act, 1876, but the chairman and clerk of the Board took exception to the valuation list produced under section 28, to the effect that there was no valuation list prepared as required by the Act, and having given evidence thereto, the Court entertained that opinion, and ruled :—“ That there was no valuation list prepared as required by the Rating Act, 1876. That Mr Q-. P. P. Loach shall be valuer, and shall receive the same amount of remuneration as originally agreed upon by him and the Board or County Council. That the list shall be completed and open for public inspection on Saturday the 20th of March. That Saturday, the 10th of April, shall be the last day for delivering objections thereto, and that the Assessment Court shall sit on Saturday, the 17th April, at 10 o’clock a.m.
