In course of conversation with the Ambassador his Majesty expressed the most cordial feelings towards France. LONDON, March 4. CommercialThree per cent. Consols 97v. Bank rate remains unchanged. The Bank of England weekly returns show a total reserve in notes and bullion of £16,625000. Adelaide wheat and flour and Australian tallow remain at last quotations. At the wool sales to-day, 9900 bales were offered. The tone of the sale was firm, and biddings very active. The Australian and New Zealand (January) mails via Suez were delivered to-day. ST. PETERSBURG, March 4. The NihilistsModesky, the Nihilist, who was arrested in connection with the recent attempt on the life of General Melikoff has been tried and found guilty of the offence, and has been sentenced to death. Ho will be hanged immediately. The Nihilist propaganda has been issued, expressing regret at the failure of the explosion at the Winter Palace, and stating that farther attempts on the life of the Czar will be made unless be abdicates or grants the reforms of the constitution as demanded by Nihilists.
