HARVEST FESTIVALS.
The harvest festival in connection with St. Michael and All Angels will ti to place on Sunday next, when the following will be the order of service : Choral communion, 8 a.m. ; morning prayer, 11 a.m. The music will be “Benedicite” (Wells), “ Jubilate ” (Garrett in F), anthem, “ Thou visited the earth” (Greene); Intriot Hymn, 317 ; evensong, 630 p.m.; “ Magnificat and Nunc Dimmitus ” (Dr. Bennett); anthem, “Fear not, O Lord ” (Goss) ; hymns, 383 and 21; chorus, “ Hallelujah ” (Handel). The harvest thanksgiving will be held in Bt. John’s Church this evening, commencing at 7.30. The following will be the order of service:—Processional Hymn, 223 ; Ancient and Modern Special Psalms, 65. 145, 147, “ Oautate Domine ” and “Deus Miseratur,” “ Bridgewater in A.” The anthem will be, “Oh Lord, how manifold are Thy works” (Barnby) ; hymns 360, 370, pieces and responses, Tallis’ Festival. The offertory will be in aid of the organ fund. Some very valuable improvements and additions to tho organ at St. John’s Church are feeing carried out by Mr E. H. Jenkins, organ builder, of this city, and will soon be completed. The work is expected to be finished in time for tho harvest festival. The additions consist of the following stops :—Great organ, trumpet Bft., 00to G; swell organ, bourdon 16ft., OO to to G; cornopean Bft., O O to G; pedal organ, open diapason 16ft., large scale. It is also proposed to illuminate tho front pipes and the organ case.
