CO-OPERATIVE LAND COMPANY.

A meeting of shareholders of the above company took place at the Oddfellows’ Hall, Lichfield street, on Tuesday evening, Mr W. Kent in the chair. The chairman having briefly stated that the object of the meeting was to appoint delegstes to go to the North Island, and make arrangements for that purpose, it was resolved that a ballot should take place, there being more candidates than the number which the meeting had decided should go. The delegates elected were Messrs J. Baseley, G. Q. Davidson and W. Dow. It was resolved that a subscription list should be opened to defray the expenses of the delegates. Several members promised the sum of £l, and other smaller amounts were handed in. It was moved and carried that an advertisement should appear in the “Times ” and Press papers for one week. A vote of thanks was accorded to Messrs Stevens and Andrews, members for Christchurch, for their kind assistance at the interview with the Hon. Mr Rolleston, Minister of Lands. All members are ■ requested to subscribe towards the delegates’ expenses, such subscriptions being only as part payment. The meeting was attended by about ninety-eight members, who seemed anxious that what was to be done should be done quickly. A vote of thanks to the chair terminated the meeting.
