Mr Hezlett favors the Government education scheme. The Exhibition. The International Exhibition closes on the 20th April. BRISBANE, February 21. Attacked by an Alligator. A man, bathing in Kemptree River yesterday, was attacked by an alligator, which seized him in the thigh, and crushed and clawed him severely. The alligator finally slipped his hold and escaped. The Attempt on the Czar. It has been ascertained that the mine under the Winter Palace was fired by a battery at the time the family, attended by servants, were actually entering the saloon. A number of the latter were seriously injured. The affair has caused great sensation, and a large number of arrests have taken place in consequence. [MELBOURNE " ARGUS" SPECIAL]. LONDON, February 20. Proposed British and Colonial Conference. Tho Canadian Board of Trade have suggested that the English Associated Chambers of Commerce should convene a Conference, in order to place British and Colonial commercial interests on a sounder basis. Colonists resident in Britain are to decide whether the meeting of Colonial and Home delegates is to take place next year. The Zollverein. The Zollverein Chambers are arranging for a preliminary Conference. Russian Nobles in Trouble. Some exalted persons are implicated in the outrage at the "Winter Palace. The Postal QuestionProtests have been received from Sydney and New Zealand colonists regarding the delay in the settlement of the postal question.
