HOTEL EMPLOYES’ PICNIC.

The hotel employes held their annual picnic on Thursday, which proved highly successful. The members of the trade taking part in the affair, with their guests, assembled to the number of about ninety at the Railway station, at about half-past eight o’clock, and proceeded to the Port by the nine o’clock train. Arriving at Port, the company paid a visit to the Lyttelton; thence a procession was formed, headed by Mr Button’s excellent band, aud in this order they went to the steam launch Lyttelton, which took them to Governor’s Bay. Every preparation had been made for the reception of the party, not forgetting an excellent cold luncheon. A programme of sports was carried out, and in various ways a very happy day was passed. The return took place at eight o’clock, and the proceedings wound up with a ball at the Lyttelton Hotel. The whole holiday proved a signal success.
