THEATRE ROYAL.
The Theatre Royal will be re-opened' this evening, under the management of Mr Hoskins, who will resume his professional position in Christchurch as the foremost attraction of the theatre. In conjunction with Miss Florence Colville, he will* appear in a round of his favorite characters. The company, consisting of the principal dramatic artistes at present in the city, is strengthened by the engagement of Miss Lizzie Morgan. The opening piece is the favorite comedy “The Serious Family,” in which Mr Hoskins will impersonate Aminadab Sleek, and Miss Florence Colville Mrs Ormsby Delmaine. A new burlesque, entitled “ Mazourka,” founded on the old tale of the transformed basketmaker, which hai formed the theme of a celebrated ballet and a popular opera, will also be performed. The burlesque will be supported by Messrs J. P. Hydes, Wilkinson, James Stark, and Mac Alexander, and the Misses Ruth Grey, Amy Johns, Lizzie Laurence, Sec. New scenery has been painted, and musio specially arranged for the burlesque by Mr Walter Q. Hydes, the whole being produced under the direction of Mr J. P. Hydes.
