THE COMET.

Tho following letter appears in this morning’s issue of the “Press TO TER EDITOB OF THE PRESS. Sib, —As you inform us that the tail of the comet was seen at Melbourne on the 2nd inst. near Beta (Qruis), and it was seen here on the Bth inst. about 3 deg. N. W. of Alpha (Piscis), 2 deg. N.W. of Alpha (Phoenix), losing itself in Kappa (Eridanus), we may infer that it is moving about 3 deg. per day to the westward, accordingly it was faintly seen this evening near Theta (Eridanus). If it continues visible till the 16th, and moves at this rate, it should then be near Beta (Ceti). Yeurs, &c.. W. B. Beat. Opawa, February 10th, 1880.
