[reuter’s telegrams.] LONDON, February 11 Mr Redmond's Motion-
After considerable debating iu the House of Commons, Mr Redmond’s amendment on the Address censuring the Government for its neglect in regard to the distress in Ireland, was negatived by 261 against 66. LONDON, February 10. The wheat afloat for Great Britain is 1,730,000 quarters. Adelaide wheat, per 49Clbs., ox warehouse, is quoted at 58s.
Sailed —Albion. The Late Gales. The steamship Chimborazo was obliged to return to Plymouth, in consequence of encountering unusually heavy weather She shipped one sea which washed six lifeboats overboard, drowning Boyer, a first-classJpassenger, killing J. R. Jones, second class, J. C. Alexander and Donald, first-class passengers, were severely injured, also Joseph Phelps, J. T. Wrigley, and Alfred Tugwell second class. The steamer Hankow became useless off the Lizard, owing to the terrific weather and sea, which caused the loss of the screw, necessitating her being towed into Plymouth. ArrivalThe Aconcagua arrived at Plymouth yesterday. The Wool Market. The wool market is firm, new arrivals for next auctions being 190,000 bales. The ChimborazoFrom further details it has been found that three more of the crew of the Chimborazo have been drowned in addition to those already reported. The hull and engines are uninjured. The vessel will be ready for sea shortly. MELBOURNE “AGE” SPECIAL. LONDON, February 11, A reduction in the Russian navy to the extent of 12,000 men has been made. Obituary. M. Cremieux, a French statesman, is dead. The Victorian Election. The “ Post ” states that the Victorian election is watched with anxiety, and praises the Marquis of Normadby. [MELBOURNE “ ARGUS ” SPECIAL.] LONDON, February 10. The Hankow. The steamer Hankow was in groat danger. She lost her screw off Oporto. As she was being towed into Plymouth the tugs lost control, and the Hankow drifted towards the breakwater outside. Afterwards she brought up between shoals and bumped at every wave. Finally four tugs brought her in safe. The gale was so furious, and the waves so high that had the cables parted all must have perished.
