The ship Waitara sailed this morning at seven o'clock, towing direct to sea. The a.s. Star of the South, Captain Bascand, left Groymonth on the 3rd, at 3 p.m., left Westport 4th, at 4 a m., arrived Wellington _sth, at 9 a m., left same day at 3 p.m., arrived iu harbour at 5 p.m. last night. The brigantine Anthons, Captain Mnnn, arrived in harbor yesterday morning with _ a cargo of coals from Greymouth, whence she left on January 29th. Had southerly winds to Capo Farewell, then heavy S B. gale for two da a, N.W. to the Brothers, thence heavy S.B. gale. Put into Queen Charlotte’s Sound for two days, and had light northerly to arrival. The Pleiades, Shaw, Savill and Co.’s line, is getting her cargo out rapidly. The Hereford has finished discharging.
THE WAITARA. This ship cleared last night at the Customs for London, making the fourth this season despatched by the New Zealand Shipping Company. Her cargo consists of Canterbury produce, inclnding, within a few bales, 4000 of wool, and the whole is valued at about j£7o,oop. She also takes one or two passengers, and will leave to-day. ENGLISH SHIPPING. European Mail,” Dee. 19th.] The Rialto hence arrived at Gravesend Fecamber Ist. The Westland, for this port, sailed from Plymouth November 27th, the same day that: the Waimate passed Deal for here. On November 30tb, the Waimate was spoken in 43 N. 13 W. “ all well.” The Edwin Fox, 835 tons, and the Palala, 999 tons, were loading. The tonnage loading on the berth at London, December 18th, for Australia and New Zealand, amounted to 34,569 tons. SHIPPING TELEGRAMS. Auckland, February 6. Sailed —Barque Inglewood, for Lyttelton. The Ada C. Owen loads timber at Manukau for Lyttelton, The three masted schooner Sophia, which came into port in a leaky condition, has been towed alongside the reclaimed land, and will discharge her cargo of stone before going into dock. Wellington, February 6. Arrived—Ringarooma, from Melbourne via South ; Penguin from Auckland. Sailed—Penguin, for the South; Ringarooma, for Auckland via Bast Coast. Oamaku, February 6. _ Arrixed—Dido, schooner, from Lyttelton, in ballast. Dunedin, February 6. Arrived—Waitaki, from Lyttelton ; Maori, from Timaru : Beautiful Star, from Oamaru. Sailed —Hawea, for tbe North. Passengers for Lyttelton —Mrs Rickett and child, Messrs Leigh, Mill. Chisholm; for Wellington : Messrs Barrey, Smith, Todd ; for Napier : Mr Haward; for Auckland: Messrs Neill, Peacock ; steerage 12.
