AQUATICS.
The final heat of the senior four-oared race in connection with Union Rowing Club came off on Wednesday night, the course being two miles, from Wright’s to the Willows, for a prize of the value of £B. Mr F. Adams again acted as starter and Mr E. D. Petrie as judge. The crews that competed were as follows:—Thetis, north bank H. Hobday (bow), C. Lodge (2), F. D. Kestaven (3), S. O. Kestaven (stroke), W. H. Woledge (cox). Electric, south bank—J. E. Mansfield (bow), D. I. Clifford (2), S. H. Seager (3), J. T. Smith (stroke), J. Rodgers (cox). At the word *• off” the Thetis went away to a splendid start, making headway every stroke nearly a length. On rounding the first bend the Electric drew np almost level. The Thetis soon drew ahead again, and on rounding Pratt’s was fully three lengths to the fore. Smith called on his men, and they answered gamely, soon shortening the space between the boats to a length. At Oowlishaw’s the Thetis had the race well in hand. From this to the finish the distance between the boats was about the same, Kesteven winning a well-rowed race by two lengths. Smith rowed a plucky stem chase all through. Time, 13 minutes. On Saturday the senior pairs will be rowed for Mr Hennah’s prize.
