CENTRAL CEMETERY BOARD.

The monthly meeting of the Central Cemetery Board was held yesterday. Present —Mr J. P. Jameson (in the chair), Rev. H. C. M. Watson and Rev. Father G-inaty. The chairman laid before the Board a letter from the Government respecting the amendments to the Cemetery Bill. A letter was read announcing the appointment of Mr John Ballantyne as a trustee of the publio cemetery. The chairman said that there was a probability of the Baard receiving a grant of Reserve No. 106, instead of No. 110. The matter had been before the Selwyn County County Council, who had postponed action until he (the chairman) had visited the spot. He proposed to do this during the week, and to report to the Board. A tracing of the publio cemetery with all the measurements had been received from the Chief Surveyor. He had to report that the trees were growing well and also the grass. He would suggest that the Board should have an annual report and balance-uheet prepared and submitted to a special meeting, at which the chairman for the ensuing year should bo appointed. Mr Ballantyne was appointed a member ef the by-law committee in room of the Rev. W. Morley. It was resolved that a special meeting of the Board should be held at 3 p.m. on Monday week. The meeting then adjourned.
