Mails close at the Chief Post Office for the following places (subject to the necessary alterations) as under: SATURDAY, JANUARY 31. For Akaroa, per Hawea, at 11.30 a.m. ; late fee letters, 11.45 a.m.; guard's van, 12.10 p ns. train. For Otago, per Mrori, at 1.50 p.m. ; late fee letters, 2.10 p.m. ; guard's van, 2.40 p.m. train. ForKaikoura, per Huia, at 7 p.m. For United Kingdom, Continent of Europe and America, via San Francisco, India, China, S andwich Islands, and Northern Ports of New Zealand, per Wannka, as follows: — Ordinary letters, 5 p.m. Late fee letters, 5.30 p.m. Books and newspapers, 4 p.m. Money orders, 3.h0 p.m. Registered letters, 4 p.m. Guard's van, special train, 6.30 p.m. This mail is due in London on 16th March. The next mail for the United Kingdom, via Suez, will be closed at Christchurch on February 12th, and will be due in London on April Ist. SYDNEY J. DICK, Chief Postmaster.
