HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY.
A meeting of the committee of the Christchurch Horticultural Society was held last evening in the rooms of tl e Agricultural and Pastoral Association. Mr B. O. J. Stevens, the president, was in the chair. Messrs T. Allen, J. Guntrip, 8. Manning, D. Nairn, G. A. Reade, and J. Gray were also present. It was resolved—- “ That the Oddfellows’ Hall be engaged for the autumn show, and that Messrs T. Turner, Knowles, and Robson be judges of pot plants and cut flowers, and Messrs W. Ivory, H. Bunting, and J. Trounce for fruit and vegetables, Messrs W. Kerr, Q. Milne, J. Guntrip, G. Davidson, and J. Allen to be requested to act as stewards.” On the motion of Mr Reade, it was resolved to hold an art union in connection with the autumn show, and that the same sum be spent for prizes as last year. It was further resolved that plants for competition tako precedence in staging, and that each class be distinguished by the schedule number, to be conspicuously placed at the commencement of each class. Messrs H. Bunting and D. Nairn are to be asked to report on the new beehive invented by the Rev. Mr Wilks.
