The American barquentine Ada Wiswell is to be moved to the breastwork, under the crane, to discharge a steam hammer anvil, weighing close upon eleven tons.

THE THUESO. This vessel, belonging to Mr C. W. Turner, arrived yesterday from Western Australia, with a full cargo, fully 800 tons of sleepers, for the railway department. The Thurso has come into port in that admirable order for which the C.W.T. line of vessels has been generally credited. It is some months since she left here, going coastwise from Dunedin. Thence she came up to Oamaru, loaded, and sailed to Adelaide. From. Adelaide she went to Freeman tie, and proceeded to Lockeville, Geograph Bay, where the cargo with which she has arrived was loaded. From the subjoined report furnished by Captain Enddon, it will be seen that the hard gale of January 21st experienced off tho Snares by the ship Pleiades, was encountered by the Thurso with almost equal severity. Captain Euddon reports Cleared Caps Naturalists about 6 p.m. on Saturday, December 27th, and experienced light S.E. and Southerly winds until January tith, then onlv in lat. 39.50 S. lon. 115 E. It then went to" the S.S.W. for three days, but soon backed again to the Eastward, North, and N.W. On January 12th, blowing strong N.W. gale, with heavy sea, the mainsail blew to pieces, and the vessel shipping very heavy water, the decks continually full fore and aft, several times taking heavy water on the poop, everything battened down. The weather moderated on the following day and continued moderate from the Westward until Wednesday, 21st. It was then blowing strong and thick weatherfrom N.W. At 11 a.m., sighted land to the Eastward, bat being unable to make it out rounded vessel to under lower topsails, with head totheS.W. The gale increased to hurricane force, tho squalls terrific, the vespers lee side pressed under water, also shipping heavy water to windward, one sea breaking starboard boat on skidd. A great .quantity of water came below in the cabin, two hands nearly the whole time baling. The weather cleared off on the 22nd, and at noon kept away for Foveaux Straits. Same night passed Dog Island and experienced variable weather up the coast, being forty-eight hours between Moeraki and Oamaru. On Monday morning the wind came from the S E., which carried the barque up and around the Peninsula yesterday morning. The steam tug Lyttelton took her in tow, bringing her in to a berth at No 3 Jetty.
