WELLINGTON SPOUTING NOTES,

[Bt Telegraph. I

WELLINGTON. January 26,

The arrivals for the races at present are— Lara, Pinfire, Lonehand, Templeton, Hailstorm, Hippo, Libeller, Billingsgate, Chancellor, York, Agent, Laertes, Soukar, Ada, Balmoral, Grey Momus, King Quail, Batcatcher, Randwiok, Sinking Fund. The following are expected daily—Foul Play, Vampire, Norseman, and Magnolia. Until to-day nearly all the work was done on the beach. This morning all but Sinking Fund apptnred on tho course. Templeton led Lara a slow two miles, the old horse looking well and going in splendid form. The Cup favorite did not please. Pinfire did three miles with Lone Hand, both moving freely. Tho former will strip fitter than at Christchurch, and many good judges think ho will be chosen by the stable for tho Cup Chancellor and York cantered together, stripped, and went two miles at three quarter speed. Chancellor is very light, but York is in flue condition, and his action is much liked. He will have good outside show. Hailstorm went a mile and a half with King Quail. Both gave satisfaction. Ratcatcher and Grey Momus, both in physic, only walked. Balmoral and Agent went twice round in company. They are very fit, and tho first named is fining down into grand condition, and showing more improvement than any other candidate. Bandwiek pleased the cognoscenti by his romping stylo of going and ripo muscular appearance. He ought to have a groat show in tho Race Club Handicap. Soukar went three and Ada two miles, going fairly well. French had Walters’ team on tho beach. Hippo had a slo- can!or of three miles. His foie legs are still very queer, and ho has to be worked very tenderly. Otherwise ho is in good condition, showing great muscle on the quarters and shoulders. Libeller and Billingsgate are pictures of condition. There is no betting worth recording.
