Mails close at the C hief Post Office for the following places (subject to the necessary alterations) as under: SATURDAY, JANUARY 24. For Northern Ports, per Penguin, at 7 p.m. ; guard's van not to be used for this mail. MONDAY, JANUARY 26. For Northern Ports, per Southern Cross, at 1.50 p.m.; late fee letters, 2.10 p.m.; guard's van, 2.40 p.m. train. For Nelson and Weatport, per Star of the South, at 1.50 p.m ; late fee letters, 2.10 p.m.; guard's van, 2.40 p m. train. For Kaikoura per Jane Douglas, ,'at 3 p.m.; lato fee letters, 3.15 p.m.; guard's van, 4 p.m. train. TUESDAY, JANUARY 27. For Otago and Australian colonies, per Albion. THUESDAY, JANUARY 29. For Northern Ports of New Zealand and Australian colonies, via Sydney, per Hotomahana. The next mail for the United Kingdom via San Francisco will close at Chriatchurch on January 31st, and will be duo in London on March 16th. The next mail for the United Kingdom, via Suez, will be closed at Christchnrch on Februiry 12th, and will be due in London on April Ist.
