ANCIENT ORDER OF SHEPHERDS.
The Sanctuary Star of Canterbury, No. 2309, wbb opened on Tuesday evening by Bro. D. T. Smith, P.C.R. and P.P., of Wellington. After reading the authority and dispensation, Bro, Smith declared the sanctuary open, initiated the officers and then twenty-four other members, the installation of officers following immediately after. The ceremony throughout was most impressive. Tho officers for the ensuing term are:—Pastor, Bro. R. Evans ; sub-pastor, Bro. T. V. Whitmore, P.D.C.R.; scribe, Bro. H. W. Newman ; treasurer, Bro. E. Watts, P.C.R ; first attendant, Bro. O. Samuels, P.0.R.; second attendant, Bro. H. Wade, P.C.8.; senior keeper, Bro. E. H. T. Wood ; junior keeper, Bro. D. Pine, P.D.C.R. Tho business of the evening being conoluded, tho pastor closed tho sanctuary and declared it adjourned until tho laßt Monday in February. The members then held a sooial gathering, P.D.C.R. Bro. H. Crooks being voted to the chair. Besides the usual loyal toasts, tho following were given:—"Bro. D. T. Smith and Family," " The Founders of tho Sanctuary, Bros. Evans, Whitmore, and Watts," and "The Chairman," all of which were heartily received and responded to. The toasts were interspersed with songs, the National Anthem bringing a very enjoyable evening to a close.
