OPENING OF A DRUID LODGE.
A new Lodge of the above order, under the title of the Ethelbert Lodge, No. 59, was opened on Saturday evening at the Springston Hotel, Springston. About fifty of the officers and members of the various Ohristchurch lodges drove up to assist in the ceremony. On arrival at their destination they received a hearty welcome and a cordial invitation to partake of an excellent spread which had been prepared for them by Mr Mager. The Lodge having been opened in due form, the following officers were installed by Bro. Oppenheim, D.P., with the ÜBual ceremonies : —A.D., Bro. Lawrence j Sec, Bro. Matthews ; V.A., Bro. Haddock; A.D.B.'s, Bros. Cattrall and A. Parish; V.A.D.B.'s, Bros. Willcocks and Woodward ; I G., Bro. Jas. Bowell; 0.G., Bro. E. Evans ; treasurer, Bro. Mager. The election of auditors and trustees was deferred until next meeting. The Lodge was then closed in due form until February Ist. Cheers having been given for the visitors they returned to Ohristchurch.
