Mails olose at the Chief Poat Office for the following places (subject to the necessary alterations) as under: THURSDAY, JANUARY 15.

For the United Kingdom, via Brindisi and Southampton (for specially addressed correspondence only), Continent of Europe, India, Africa, Mediterranean Ports, Australian Colonies, &c, per express train, to connect with b.s. Eingarooma at the Bluff, at 7 a.m. Books and newspapers, at 6 a.m. Money orders at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. Registered letters at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 14th. Late fee letters for these mails may be posted in the travelling Post Office attached to the express train on Thursday, Jan. 15th. For Northern Ports of New Zealand and Australian Colonies, via Sydney, per Arawata, at 1.50 p.m.; late fee letters, 2.10 p.m.; guard's van, 2.40 p.m. train. For Otago, per Waitaki. SATUEDAY, JANUAEY 17. For Chatham Islands, per Omaha, at 7.30 a.m.; guard's van, 9 a.m. train. The next mail for the United Kingdom via San Francisco will close at Christchnrch on January 31st, and will be due in London on March 16th. SYDNEY J. DICK, Chief Postmaster.
