Furopean Politics.
It is considered possible that the Russian military movement in Poland
may bo a defensive measure adopted by 1 Russia in view of fhe European coalition shadowed forth by Mr Bourke (Foreign Under Secretary) at Lynn. It is understood to he in arrangement between England, Germany, France, and Austria for securing the control to Great Britain of Asiatic Turkey, an increased seaboard for Germany, and complete isolation of Russia. Russia is upholding Sorria in her opposition to the Austrian railway scheme. The Afghan War. Mahomed Jan has retreated to Ghuznee, where ho is rallying tho Afghan forces. January 12. Godefroy’s Business. The Berlin company have succeeded in taking up Godoffroy’s business, with a capital of eight million marks. French Polities. There have been sweeping changes in the French War Department. Only staunch Republican generals have been placed in command. Similar changes are imminent in other departments.
