Mails close at the ( hief Post Office for the following places (subject to the necessary alterations) as under: — WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 14. For Chatham Islands, per Omaha, at 10 a.m.; guard’s van, 10.30 a.m train. THURSDAY, JANUARY 15. For the United Kingdom, via Brindisi and Southampton (for specially addressed correspondence only), Continent of Europe, India, Africa, Mediterranean Ports, Australian Colonies, &c , per express train, to connect with s s. Ringarooma at the Bluff, at 7 a.m. Books and newspapfrs, at 6 a.m. ■ Money orders at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 14th. Registered letters at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 14th. late fee letters for these mails may be posted in the travelling Post Office attached to the express train on Thursday, Jan 15th. For Northern Ports of New Zealand and Australian Colonies, via Sydney, per Arawata, at 1.50 p.m.; late fee letters, 210 p.m.; guard's van, 2.40 p.m. train. For Otago, per Waitaki. The next mail for the United Kingdom via San Francisco will close at Christchurch on January 31st, and will bo duo in London on March IGth. SYDNEY J. DICK, Chief Postmaster.
