Mails close at the ' hief Post Office for tho following places (subject to the necessary alterations) as under: — TUESDAY, JANUARY 13. For Northern Ports of Now Zealand, per Tairoa, at 1.50 p m. ; late fee letters, 3.10 p.m.; guard’s van, 2.40 p.m. train. For Otago, per Eingarooma, at 1.50 p.m.; late fee letter’s, 2 10 p.m.; guard’s van, 2.40 p.m. train. THURSDAY, JANUARY 15.
For the United Kingdom, via Brindisi and Southampton (for specially addressed correspondence only), Continent of Europe, India, Africa, Mediterrano >n Ports, Australian Colonies, Ac., per express train, to connect with s s. Eingarcoma at the Bluff at 7 a m. Books and newspap'-ra, at 6 am. Money orders at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 14 th.
Registered letters at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 14ih.
Lata fee letters for these mails may bo posted in the travelling Post Office attached to the express train on Thursday, Jan. 15th. The next mail for the United Kingdom via San Francisco will close at Christchurch on January 31st, and will be due in London on March 16th. SYDNEY J. DICK, Chief Postmaster.
