The s s. Wanganui, for the Wed Const via Wellington, sailed at 3 30 p m. on Saturday The Union Company’s s.a. Hawca, Captain Kennedy, arrived on Saturday mornirg, from Northern ports. She left Auckland on Monday last, and o died at Tanrauga, Gisborne, Napier, and Wellington on the successive days of last week, leaving tho last named Port on Friday, at 3.15 pm. She sxiisd for Port Chalmers in the afternoon. THE RIO LOGB. The brig Bio Loge. Captain A ; _G. Walker, arrived this morning from Mauritius, after a good passage of forty two days. Her cargo consists of 259 lons of fine white sugars to her owners, Mr 0. W. Turner The vessel came direct into port, end was berthed at No. 3 Jetty, SHIPPING TELEGRAMS. Bluff. January 12. The Arawata left Hobson’s Bay at 3 p m on tho 3rd, and arrived at Hobart Town at 7 a.m. on the Bth; left again the same day at 2.30 p m.. and made the land at noon on tho 11th ; slowed down, and arrived at the Bluff at daylight on the 12th She experienced light variable winds and fine weather throughout the passage. Saloon passengers from Melbourne for Blnff Misses Fitts (2), Mr and Mrs Preston, Messrs B ird and Shirst, and twentv-one tons of cargo. For Dunedin —Mr and Mrs Bonningand family, Messrs McFarland A Thomson, J. Aikman, Llewellyn, and C. Cook; sixty steerage, and seventy tons of cargo. For Lyttelton—Mr Pittman. Mr and Mrs L. Davis, Miss Restell, Me idainea Thomas and Wild, _ Mr and Mrs Douglas; seven steerage and sixteen tons of cargo. For Wdlington—Mr F S. Benjamin, Mr. Miss, and Master Fdwards, Mr T. C. Kirk, C. Arrived—lro, from Kakaoni. The ship Margaret Gilbra'th. from London, seventy .seven davs out. She brings 10P0 tons of cargo and 140 passengers. Ore death, that of a chi'd. and two births occnrred on board Captain Forgusson reports passing in sight of Goughs Island and the Crezets Group, but he saw no signs of life on either. The dangers experienced by the Eotomahana off tho Great Harrier were not so serious as was expected. One of the starboard bilge plates, nearly abreast of tho fore gangway was, however. sever el-/ indented for about seven feet of its length. It wm removed, heated, rolled out and ra-rivetted into its place, looking as well as ever
