HANLAN’S ULTIMATUM.

[From the “ Sportsman’s ” Own Correspondent.]

Toronto, Nov. 10 — 4 p.m.

Edward Hanlan has received your formal demand for the return to England of the Championship Challenge Cup, based on my telegram of October 23rd, stating that he would not again visit England to contest. He now authorises me to say that he will defend his title to the championship and the trophy whenever challenged by the sculler who proves himself to be the best in England. This he contends is only in accordance with the conditions regulating the races for the Cup.
