The arrivals yesterday wore the Hopeful and Fawn from Newcastle, and the Rona and Prince Alfred from Kaipara. The brig Fawn, Captain Dillner, arrived yesterday from Newcastle, coal laden. She left on the 19th December and fell in with a southerly gale, which continued for forty-eight hours with great severity. Had moderate and light variable winds afterwards to Stephen’s Island December 31st; passed Cape Campbell January 2nd, and had a strong southerly wind for twenty-four hours off Waipapa Point j thoace light N.E. Sighted several barques and schooners on December 31st off Stenbptn’s Island bound west, among them the Sunbeam. Tiie schooner Ocean Bird, timber laden, arrived last nigiit. The departure of the s.s. Star of the South for the West Coast is set tor Wednesday next. The s.s. Wanaka, Captain McGillivray. arrived on Saturday afternoon from Wellington and North. She left Kussell 27th December at 5 p.m , arrived at Auckland 28th at 7am.; siiled from Auckland 29th at 5.30 p m., arrived Taurunga 30th at 7.30 а. ; left at 830 a.m., reached Gisborne 31st at б. a m.; left at 613 in., arrived Napier Ist January at 5.30 a.m.; left at 11 a.m , arrived Wellington 2nd at 11 a.m.; left at 8 p.m., and had fine weather down. Sailed for Akaroa and Port Chalmers on Saturday afternoon. THE RANGITIKI. The New Zealand Shipping Company despatched another of their ships on Saturday for London, with a large and valuable cargo as under. The steam tug Lyttelton took the Rangitiki to sea shortly after noon, towing her about seven miles outside the heads. The ship there spread her canvas before a fresh N.E. breeze, and would clear the Peninsula probably before midnight. At daylight yesterday morning nothing was to be seen of her from the heads, so that Captain Mil man hnd no doubt got well away. Her cargo consisted of 5369 hales of wool and skins, 173 casks of tallow, nnd some sundries, the value of the whole being about £95 000.
