CHRISTCHURCH. Monday, January 5. [Before G. L Mellish, E q., R.M.] Drunk and Disorderly.—One drunkard was fined ICs and one 40e. Both lads were cautioned they had committed an illegal act, but as this was the first information that had been laid, and the hoys had probably acted in ignorance that they were breaking the law, tho Bench warned "them for the future and discharged them. Fusions Driving.—Frederick Mulholland was summoned for furious driving on Anniversary Day. Conflict!' g evidence was given, and the defendant receive i tho benefit of tho doubt, and was discharged. Wandering Hoksics and Cattle—Wm. Merriman was fined 10< and costs for allowing a mare and foal to wander at large. Hackney Carriage By-Law.—Matthew Livingston, a cabman, was summoned for plying for hire otherwise than on tho cab Stand on Ohriitmss eve. He was fined 10j. Thomas Lister, a cabman, was summoned for not remaining on his stand. There was no appearance of tho defendant, who was fined 10s. Two or three other unimportant cases of offences under tho by-laws won then disposed Of.
